The first tip that Lynn shares is evaluating the quality of leads and referrals you receive from different parts of your digital marketing. Where are people finding you, and how does your client experience change platform-to-platform? 

 

Leads from Facebook, for example, were generally more difficult for Lynn and sometimes didn’t pay, whereas leads she generated at podcasting events were far more successful. Putting your time and energy into higher-quality leads makes your life easier as a business owner. 

 

Playing to Your Digital Marketing Strengths

 

Mark and Lynn recommend focusing on where you’re getting the most bang for your buck. Consider how much time you’re spending on projects and how much they yield, and if something isn’t working for you, adjust accordingly. Rather than trying to offer everything, offer your skills and strengths at a more profitable price point.

 

Both Mark and Lynn restate the importance of investing in digital marketing basics before anything else. If you don’t have a website for your business and email newsletters, start there. From there, track what digital marketing components are performing the best and devote more resources to optimizing those components. Social media and content are both vital parts of a successful digital marketing plan.
